With their usual audacity, most (if not all) stores around here have been featuring Valentine’s Day cards, candy etc. since the first of the year. The month of February definitely takes on the flavor of this one day. As Tarot readers, this puts the focus more than usual on romantic relationship, and on personal expectations. There can be great joy, on this day, but also great pain when expectations are not met.
We have been having a lot of fun on Facebook with daily questions. If you are a regular there, you know we post all sorts of questions from the silly "deserted island" type to those that make you dig like "what cards would you take antique shopping."
Right now we have 679 folks who've "liked" our Facebook page. Of course we want to share the love with more. We are driving towards 777 as a magic number. Yes, there's a pun in there. Ask your friends to "like" our Facebook fan page. They can go here or they can like us by clicking on the Facebook link to the right on this blog. When we hit that magic number, everyone's name goes in a hat. We will pull a winner who will get their choice of the following decks:
We are 98 people away from that magic number as of 2/7/2011.
You are automatically in the contest just for liking the USGS Facebook page.
Help us get the word out. You can do that by going to the Facebook page and clicking on "Suggest To Friends." Tell them about the contest because they will be eligible as well once they like that page.
Crystal Visions Tarot – Interview with Jennifer Galasso
Janet: Hello Jen! Thank you for taking time out to share the good news with the Tarot Gals readers and answer a few questions about your deck!
Jennifer: Hello Janet! Thank you for taking the time to interview me about the deck!
Janet: First, let's begin with your big announcement: you've signed a contract with U.S. Games Systems, Inc. to publish your Crystal Visions Tarot. How wonderful! So how do you feel?! Are you heading to Disneyworld? ;o) What is the timeline–any ideas when we'll be able to get our hands on your deck?
We are entering this new year with a new moon in Capricorn, and a partial solar eclipse, also in Capricorn. Layer this over the number four (Emperor) universal energy for the year, and we have some serious power at our disposal!
The answer to "Tarot Impossible: What Movie is This" is "Despicable Me". Congratulations to Lynn Merrit for her correct guess. Here is a brief synopsis of the plot and how those cards were chosen.
The movie begins with the Devil who would be the main character,Gru (Devil). He goes to the Bank of Evil but is denied (King of Coins Rx).
He decides to fake adopt three little girls (Three of Cups) who show him how to do foolish things and have fun (The Fool).
His mother (Empress Rx) shows up in flash backs and he realizes that he is being deceived by someone (Moon).
He has to fight off the other evil villain (Knight of Swords Rx). He learns from children how to live happily ever-after (6 of Cups).
Try this as a Tarot exercise. Pick a book or movie that you know very well — Wizard of Oz for instance. Now assign cards (no more than eight) to tell the story as you know it. If you have a Tarot study group, you might try this as a discussion.
I'm interested in what you come up with so please share.
Agent Reader, you've done very well so far with the Tarot Impossible game. Agent Tarot has come to us again with another query.
She did a reading for a character who gave this clue, "I was one of the top ten money-making movies of 2010." She did the reading but forgot to ask what the movie was. She wanted to see it if she could.
Here are the cards for this reading.
The movie begins with the Devil and the King of Coins Rx
Then the Three of Cups enter and the Fool shows up.
The Empress Rx figures in as well as the Moon.
We end with a Knight of Swords Rx and the 6 of Cups for our happily ever after.
It's the New Year already. What are your Tarot traditions? Do you do any specific spreads? In all parts of the world there are a variety of ways we humans celebrate another new year. Of course 2011 also kicks off the second decade of the 21st Century. What an exciting time to be alive.
Here are two spreads to add to your reading arsenal.
