About Amelia Rozear
Amelia Rozear is a young illustrator from Connecticut, who has always been very fond of creative and mystical things. As an illustrator, she tries to tell stories wherever she can, through any medium possible. Watercolor is especially close to her heart. Her interest in tarot began when she discovered the artwork of Pamela Colman Smith, illustrator of the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot deck. When the quarantine of 2020 drove the world into lockdown, she decided to explore tarot further by creating a deck of her own. She currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island with two small rabbits, Soup and Meatball.

What Customers Are Saying About Curious Travels Tarot
Artist Amelia Rozear embodies what artists do in turbulent times: create! The Curious Travels Tarot Deck is a beautiful example of a creative mind responding to the uncertainty and challenges of the 2020 global pandemic. In this approachable, yet deeply thoughtful rendition of the classic Rider-Waite-Smith, Rozear has taken the classic motifs and archetypes to a lighthearted and joyful plane.
The watercolor artwork, combined with precise pen details, takes the reader on a journey reminiscent of the tales of Peter Pan, Tom Sawyer, and Treasure Island. The images are filled with adventure, creating space not only for insightful readings but also for captivating stories. Even if you’re not a seasoned reader or use Tarot for other purposes, the imagery is as inspiring as it is comforting. Additionally, with U.S. Games Systems' signature linen finish and gold foil details, the cards almost feel like lost pages from a storybook—and also make them an absolute dream to shuffle.
If you’ve been in search of a deck that is not only a small departure from the original Rider-Waite-Smith system but also has a sense of levity, The Curious Travels Tarot Deck might be the perfect choice for you. Its whimsical illustrations and thoughtful design provide a fresh perspective while maintaining the core essence of traditional Tarot. Whether you are a seasoned reader looking for something new or a beginner hoping to find a deck that is both accessible and visually engaging, this deck offers a delightful experience that is sure to inspire your Tarot travels.

Curious Travels Tarot by Amelia Rozear is done in watercolor, with materials she inherited from her grandmother. The art celebrates a diverse animal kingdom and strikes a perfect balance between whimsical and mystical.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the mass market edition features the indie version's traits: A lovely linen-like finished cardstock, gold foiling, slightly larger cards to better showcase the creator's beautiful watercolor artwork. The colors are not "watery" at all; on the contrary all the images vibrate with vivid shades of blue, red, green, yellow???? Rider-Waite Smith based in its essence, the deck is an "easy reader" even when the artist injects her own original (and sometimes humorous) vision in some of the arcana. Whimsical, gentle, colorful, approachable. Recommended!

This is 79 pieces of beautifully painted stories. The paintings feel like modern versions of the images you would find painted inside of a vintage novel. They bring you on a journey with these anthropomorphic animals, stylized humans, and almost surrealistic scenes. Each card contains just a hint of gold foil just to keep the magic alive. The guidebook offers solid card explanations for anyone that needs the support when reading. It does not seem to offer a ton of insight from the artistic perspective, there only seem to be a few cards that do, but each card does offer a playful description of the notable imagery on the card. Overall, this deck is playful, interesting, and beautifully painted, and would make a lovely addition to any collection.

I got my hands on the mesmerizing Curious Travels Tarot and I’m in love! The watercolor artwork on each card is absolutely stunning, and the foil accents add such a magical touch.
One thing I adore about this deck is the deep connection with animals—each card feels alive and full of vibrant energy. The guidebook is a gem too, with its colorful and informative content that’s perfect for both newbies and seasoned readers.
While larger cards can be a hassle, the size and linen cardstock of Curious Travels Tarot reminds me of the my beloved Pagan Otherworlds deck. It feels sturdy and shuffles very beautifully!
If you’re looking for a deck that’s both enchanting and practical, I highly recommend the Curious Travels Tarot!
