What Customers Are Saying About Ethereal Visions: Illuminated Tarot Deck
The faces of every card carry gold embossing, which provides the deck with a very glamorous beauty and this special aspect adds an interesting ingredient to the readings. Each card carries a simple yet beautiful colored drawing in soft pastel colours presented in a gold frame. The artist is self-taught, and the cards have an Art Nouveau/Pre Raphaelite and Symbolist energy, similar to The Age of Illustration.
Two extra Major Arcana cards have been added to the traditional tarot deck. These are The Well and The Artist. These two cards reflect the personal journey of Matt Hughes. The booklet gives basic information only on each card so the reader will need to be experienced to read the full potential of the images. I found there was a strength in the images that was not immediately apparent. It is a delightful and impressive deck to work with.

The art. Oh, the art. The artwork on tarot cards might be the most important factor when it comes to using them. If they aren’t clear and easy to interpret, they’re mostly only nice to look at. Luckily, the Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot deck is both useful and beautiful. Matt Hughes chose to go with Art Nouveau for his illustrations and it was an amazing choice. The images are ornate, the colors simple, and the gold foiling on each and every card make them incredibly elegant. You feel quite decadent when you pull one and look at it, and I love to feel decadent. As the title implies, they really are an ethereal vision.
The Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot deck is beautiful and well thought out. It might be my favorite deck that I own, despite my qualms with it. Even as just a novelty item or a display piece, it’s stunning. The artwork is my favorite part, and I would love to own more decks that look and feel just as luxurious. If you can find and afford it, it’s definitely worth the investment.

This is a deck you have to see in person to really appreciate the gold foil accents. The colors are very soft in this deck. The LWB is black and white and text only, in it you will find upright and reversed card meanings as well as the astrological correspondence for the Major Arcana. The suits have the traditional names Cups, Wands, Swords, Pentacles. There are two extra cards in this tarot deck. 22 The Well and 23 The Artist . I like that the images follow the Rider Waite tradition closely and the foil accents are definitely a great addition to the images. The card backs are reversible.
If you love soft colors and Art Nouveau style this deck will be a lovely edition to your collection. This deck offers soft colors and a very gentle vibe but the message of the cards shines through. The foil accents add a bit of luxury to the card images and provide some contrast with the almost washed out colors. I recommend this deck to tarot readers of all skill level.
