What Customers Are Saying About The Urban Tarot
My new go-to. I wasn't familiar with the Thoth system but willing to learn with this beautiful deck. Easy to love, easy to bond with, my new favorite. —Billie Barnett
Unique deck / beautiful story! I love this deck! Although I liked the deck right away, reading the “guidebook” made me fall in love! Robin Scott’s little book tells us this deck’s story. Each card’s meaning and inspiration and creative journey expressed in a well written, easy “page per card” way that consistently gives credit to everyone involved. Hold the card, read the text and learn who the people (models) are and why they were chosen and how the card was created. Really bonded me to this deck So even if you are a “never use a guidebook” person—read this one anyway!! I bet you will fall in love too! —Amazon customer
Omg, I LOVE this deck. I wasn't sure what to expect because of the titles under each picture; they don't necessarily correspond with the typical RWS meanings. But, I don't care! This deck offers so much room for interpretation because all of the pictures are so detailed and rich that you can pull so much meaning from them. I love the descriptions in the guidebook as well; you can tell the artist put a LOT of work in for each card. I've been reading tarot for 7 years now and used my RWS deck probably 80% of all my readings. Well, I've only had these for a couple weeks and I haven't looked back! I think this just might become my favorite deck. Would definitely recommend for those who are looking for even more variety in their readings. —Taylor, Amazon customer
An underrated deep dive. This deck will make you Feel. Yes, there are triggering images not only for anyone who's gone through trauma, but for people with an emotional connection to city life, especially NYC. There are references to 9/11, Ellis Island, NYPD, just to name a few. And various nyc buildings and landmarks provide the background for other cards, though if you're not from the area, these are often vague enough to depict any city, so it works for everyone. This deck is well worth the journey IF you're up for it. For me, it's a must-have deck. Thoth based deck with depictive imagery that's great for readers unfamiliar with the system. Guidebook is wonderful; it discusses meaning as well as the imagery of the cards. Nice cardstock. Slightly larger than traditional tarot card size. Good quality box. Excellent purchase overall. —Ludmilla
This is an insightful beautiful deck. You can feel the artist's spirit. A great introduction to a Thoth based deck. I like the larger deck, but I'd appreciate a pocket edition for the sake of my hands. —Starr Loy
Beautiful reinterpretation of a classic. I've been waiting a long time for this deck to be released, since I missed the Kickstarter and the next sale, and I wasn't disappointed. Urban Tarot is based not on the most common RWS system, but on the one created by Aleister Crowley and I must say that it is at the same time quite faithful and innovative representation, though not all: some cards “fall” into the RWS system, others go beyond that of Crowley, with others still in the middle. The theme is New York, which is explored in all its aspects in the maps. The Court Cards are excellent, which always follow the pattern of Crowley and have been given specific names, such as “The Seducer” or “The Activist”. —Amazon customer
