Tarot of a Moon Garden
Tarot of a Moon Garden

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT TAROT OF A MOON GARDEN:

At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this deck, but it seemed to just kind of "grow" on me as I began to use it more in Tarot readings -- and clients requested this deck a lot for readings. It's actually a very delightful and charming deck of tarot cards. Each of the cards depicts a night scene, with the exception of the Sun Card, which shows a bright and glorious sunny morning. Some readers dislike this deck because they feel that it's too "cute," however, I think of it more as being a "magical fairyland" type of deck. It is a fun and enchanting deck to read with, once you become accustomed to it. There are no frightening images in this deck, so it's a good choice for the beginning young reader or anyone else that either wants to read the cards or get a reading but is hesitant about the traditional images of most decks. Tarot of a Moon Garden reduces any "harshness" that may be found in some decks.

You'll find delightful images such as flowers, castles, fairies, dolphins, and hot air balloons. Artist Marie Sweikhardt works with the idea that the moon is an enchanted place with whimsical creatures, lush jungles, mysterious caverns, and exotic flowers -- like a lunar Garden of Eden.

It is a soft and gentle deck that follows the Rider-Waite tradition and symbolism but in a much calmer way. It's a deck suitable for reading for or about children as well. Although not the deck for everyone, it's certainly a welcome change for a few moments of escape into an enchanted land of childhood magic. When the mood is whimsical, this can be a very nice deck to turn to. In August 2007, Tarot of Moon Garden was reintroduced and is once again available. So if you missed it during a time of being out-of-print, it's available again.

-- Velvet Angel, on Tarot Wisdom Readings

This imaginative deck weaves traditional images with mythic expression and elemental magic into a 78-card deck full of inspiration and insight. Beautifully illustrated by Karen Marie Sweikhardt this whimsical, full-color deck depicts an enchanted garden with exotic flowers, castles, and hot air balloons. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the colors and dreamlike images and it was a real pleasure to work with. The card stock is terrific and shuffles very easily and the image on the backs are not only reversible but intricate and pleasing to the eye.

The Major Arcana are stunning to look, at depicting fairies, dragons, butterflies and unicorns and even the moon herself makes an appearance in several of the cards. The Minor Arcana have dragonflies for the hilts of the Swords suit, mystical trees in the Staffs suit, there are butterflies, ferns and other foliage in the Cups suit and the Pentacles suit with it's large pentacle orbs floating across it's images. This deck is a delight to look at and definitely a joy to work with and makes a terrific deck for both beginner and experienced alike.

The Tarot of a Moon Garden deck was my 8 year-old son's first deck, given to him on his 6th birthday. The cards have been described as very feminine and romantic but we find them, instead, very gentle and magical. It is the perfect first deck for any young witch or wizard or of course for those young at heart.

The cards are easy to read and are filled with beautiful images and great detail. From the moment they're taken out of the box they seem to exude a kind of soft, magical transcendence. For a young reader they're just the thing to open the mind and senses to the "elsewhere".

Reading these cards or having them read for you, transports you to a gentler, more magical time. Every card in the deck, major and minor Arcana alike, brings one closer to a more innocent yet mysterious way of being. Even the death and devil cards are done in such a way as to adhere to the old standards (which I much prefer) and yet convey the message in a gentle, non-frightening way.

One would be hard put to find a better deck for the up and coming spiritual generation. Indeed, my number one recommendation for a child's first set of tarot cards would have to be the Tarot of a Moon Garden.

The moon is an enchanted place with whimsical creatures, mysterious caverns, lush jungles and exotic flowers. Sweikhardt weaves the traditional tarot symbolism into her images of a lunar Garden of Eden where there are dragonflies, butterflies, dolphins, dragons and unicorns around every corner. The inspiration card states Welcome to a Realm Where Myth and Magic are the Reality.

Journey into the Moon Garden and reflect on the phases of the lunar energy. It is a very bright, bold, and colorful deck taking you to a time of magic as it weaves traditional tarot symbolism, mythic expression and elemental magic. A tapestry for you to discover. As Sweikhardt states she started this as a poem, Moon Garden, and from there it blossomed into this wonderful fanciful enchanted deck.

It will soon be, if it is not already, a collector’s item, one you will want for your own collection, or just to have. Great for using and reading children, or for children to explore the Tarot.

My friend bought me a deck of cards as a gift. The deck was The Tarot of the Moon Garden. Immediately I felt soothed by its images of dancing fairies, protective dragons and lush gardens. Every card stirred feelings of hope and dreams achieved, even the cards associated with negative portents such as the Tower or the Devil. This deck is still my favorite and the ideal first set for anyone wishing to explore the mysteries of the Tarot. I find them deeply emotional, describing how events affect the questioner emotionally rather than detailing events. I feel these cards empathize with the questioner, place a comforting hand on their shoulder or join in with the cheers when all is well. They are a positive, gentle deck, eager to find positive results from the most negative events, but not give you a false hope, a false sense of security, keen to show events you'll face, keen to reassure you of their support.

They can be mischievous, I've never found any other deck with such personality, prone to mood swings if they're not treated right giving absolutely nothing to read, deathly silent especially if you query their advice. The fantasy beings depicted sum up perfectly these cards, encouraging the reader to dig deeper into a world of plenty, always offering encouragement. This is a set everyone should read at least once; they bring a rare innocent, childlike quality to an art often daunting when first practiced.

What customers are saying about Vampire Tarot

I own this tarot deck and I fell in love with it. Each card has such character and is poignantly beautiful. I did a reading for a friend with it and she kept commenting on the eyes of the characters. You look at them and they seem to be looking at you. There is something deeply moving about the cards. I would look through them all over and over as each one is a work of art. My favorites were the Sun, the Hermit and the Fool. I adored this deck because it wasn’t all flowers and smiles. It was a bit gothic, striking and different. I wouldn't say it's dark and evil. It's just elaborate and gothic looking. People have long held a fascination with vampires because of their mystique and we all want to know what lurks in the shadows. In this deck, the vampires come out of the shadows. I would be picky with decks and never had much love for the traditional Rider-Waite as I found it "boring". Vampire Tarot is eccentric, alluring and different. I would really recommend it to anyone looking for an individualistic tarot deck. Let the eyes draw you in.
—Martha Clark, Amazon customer

I find this deck mesmerizing and accurate. The blood element may freak some people out, but it really isn't as macabre as it seems. The blood in this case is meant to represent life, so this deck really gets its message across in a different and powerful way.

I often take them out just to look at them. True the cards don't have a zillion things happening on them, but I find those kinds of decks taxing and needlessly complex. We aren't stupid, we don't need a thousand tiny details to understand what the cards are telling us. What I really appreciate about the Vampire Tarot is that, unlike so many other decks where the characters are distant and passive, in this deck the characters appear to acknowledge your presence and seem to be active participants in the reading. Another great thing about the Vampire Tarot is that the booklet provided with the cards explains the symbolism of the artwork of all 78 cards as well as their upright and reversed meanings. The cards are also very well glossed, and are a very good size to shuffle normally.

I highly recommend this deck to anyone ready to graduate from simply reading the cards to really understanding and working with the cards.

The pictures are beautiful, scary and completely hypnotic. Anyone who does tarot and does it consistently will agree that some decks have a bit of personality during some readings. This one packs a punch. Brutal honesty, meant to be that snarky advice that snaps you out of your "issues".

I'm aware that some tarot decks are just lovely pictures, but buy this deck in full confidence if you're looking for a deck that doesn't candy coat it's messages. Other decks are vague and fanciful...this one skips the sweets and right to business. Vampire Tarot is the best tarot deck I own.

II have never come upon such an intriguing and inspiring deck. It is my favorite, and I use it constantly. The Vampires have become my friends. I can consult them on anything from the wisdom of a financial venture to the well-being of my family. Of course they don’t always tell me what I want to hear, but they do always tell me what I need to know. For this, I love them.
I highly recommend this deck for those who are passionate about dark literary and fantasy figures such as vampires. Those who are intrigued by the unusual and the visually beautiful will also find this deck very appealing.
Cathi Bitzer, Aeclectic Tarot

I purchased this deck on a whim because the beautiful artwork was completely irresistible. Hertz's dark and brooding but beautiful characters HAD to come home with me, though I doubted I would ever use this deck in a reading. After examining it further, however, I am quite pleased with my spontaneous buy. It seems to be a rather accurate, if sometimes humorously gruesome deck.
Many of the cards in this deck draw on familiar images from standard decks such as the Rider-Waite, yet still hold their own in artistic expression. The High Priestess, for example, has on her familiar Hathor-like crown of glory, but it is formed from her hair, seeming to indicate this position is from her own achievement, not one bestowed upon her. The Strength card depicts a woman with her typical enormous feline companion, but it is the woman who is wild and needs taming.
This deck is not only for the eyes, however. Since we all have dark sides, and skeletons in our closets, this may be the perfect deck to use when confronting difficult and dark issues. While the Justice card in most decks is righteous, honorable and regal, the Justice in this deck scares the bejeebers out of me! But perhaps that is the point. The whole theme of this deck is a look into the darker world, the world of Vampires. If I, or someone I loved, were threatened in any way, you'd bet I could become the Justice depicted here. She conveys a power and fierce strength that few people are willing to acknowledge they have. And though the pictures in this deck deal with the most base of human issues - survival - there is an honesty about Nathalie's creatures that many of us have lost. They are unashamedly themselves, with no apologies offered. Taking a step into the world of Natalie Hertz's vampires could oddly enough reveal a more human you.

Goddess on the Go
Goddess on the Go

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT GODDESS ON THE GO:

"Goddess On the Go is a small deck of 33 uplifting and stunning paintings of women on the go combined with a heart-centered nourishing phrase. Designed especially for the fast paced life style of today's goddesses (all women are goddesses), it is small enough to fit anywhere and light enough to be carried around everywhere." -- Amy Sophia Marashinsky

Goddess on the Go is the third oracle pack from Amy Sophia Marashinsky, creator of the Goddess Oracle and the more recent Oracle of the Grail Code: Restoration of the Feminine. For this deck, she has worked with artist Melissa Harris to create an accessible, positive and nurturing affirmation deck that is "a dose of spiritual first aid" -- successfully, I should add.

Amy's affirmations are designed to be concentrated energy phrases, simple but elegant, and capable of "dissolving core negative thoughts and replacing them with a healing beam of transformational light and love". After choosing Melissa as the artist, Amy went through Melissa's huge collection of paintings to find the right images to match them. She paid close attention to the energies of the words and what they created with their vibrations, and knew the text and its accompanying image were right when she "held the card while reading the affirmation and felt it entering my being like a burst of light, leaving a fallout of happiness and peace".

Melissa's images have swirling, saturated colours blurring into almost watery edges. They're more expressionistic than realistic; the figures inspired by the women in her life but mostly from her imagination, and have a strong feeling of motion and dance. My favourite card has the affirmation, 'I am filled with Divine Energy', painted with a woman dressed in yellow and purple, her head thrown back in a wild and joyous dance.

Physically, the cards are small -- roughly playing card size -- and compact enough to fit in a handbag or purse. A few of the cards are landscape oriented instead of portrait (of which I'm not a great fan) but as the cards generally used individually rather than in readings, it isn't a major problem. They're packaged in a small but sturdy cardboard box (the top lifts off -- it's not a flip-top box), with a 70-page little white booklet.

The booklet is a personal look at the background and process of the deck's creation, the effectiveness of affirmations, and the possible uses for the deck (as it's not a deck for readings as such). Amy offers some suggestions:

  • Nurturing (breathing deeply, then engaging with the image and letting its message sink in until you feel nourished);
  • First aid (for use in a moment of stress or anxiety -- just escape to the bathroom with your cards, ground yourself, and then go through the entire deck of cards, one at a time, until you feel more centred);
  • Affirming the life you want (finding the four cards that can assist you);
  • Affirmantra (using the affirmation like a mantra in meditation).
  • There are fairly similar decks on the market with a goddess, female-centric or affirmations theme, but I liked the Goddess on the Go pack because of its simplicity and the way its art and advice can instantly bring about a mental or emotional change. These are uplifting, positive cards, perfect as the pick-me-up in hard times or as a gentle daily reminder. I really enjoyed working with this deck, and it's one I'll be continuing to use.
