Hermetic Tarot Deck
Hermetic Tarot Deck

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT HERMETIC TAROT DECK:

This black & white Tarot is unsurpassed as a study deck or teaching deck. It empowers the reader to make full use of all aspects of interpretation at a glance. QUALITIES OF ASTROLOGY This deck is one of the few that easily reveals the planetary influences at work in a matter, or the overall spread and thus lends itself to shades of meaning relevant to the seeker's own elemental nature and birth sign. Each card is visually identified with corresponding planets, aspects, and elements. These qualities alone improve the student's ability to grasp the possibility of deeper levels of understanding in the book of Tarot ... and to expand the readers' scope of divination. QUALITIES OF IMAGERY The symbolism used is powerful and intricate ... a review of any Major Arcana reveals many influences at work. Further, the imagery is intriguing, drawing the eye and the mind into infinite possibility and facilitating psychic placement in the vast expanse of the Astral. The imagery in the Hermetic Tarot facilitates study of the Tree of Life and the Cabalistic perspective. Concepts of Force, Form and Equilibrium are graphically depicted. The Hebrew letter associated with the Major Arcana is clearly visible on each card. The names of the angels of the decans of the heavens by day and by night are included on all the Minor Arcana. Cabalistic and Hermetic symbols that lead one into deeper understanding of the Tree of Life and the Golden Dawn appear on many Tarot. This is one of the few decks that offers two male and two female images in the Court card, in keeping with the balanced view of reality offered by the Tree of Life model. QUALITIES OF INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKLET With constant referrals to SEPHIRAH on the Tree of Life, this booklet makes it clear that the study of Tarot is a deeply spiritual process. Terse, yet thorough, each card is clearly described. Reference to the interpretation of the symbols used is clear. Interpretations of the cards are given as "Dignified" and "Ill-dignified", which in my opinion is far more freeing to the reader than the standard "Reversed" interpretations given by so many decks. Reference is made to the Four Worlds, and the Paths of the Tree of Life in the instructional booklet ... leading the student to a deeper consideration of the expansive nature of accurate interpretation. The cards are printed on sturdy stock, and have born up well after 3 years of regular use. They are of normal size, which make shuffling easy, and it is easy to determine both suit and number of each. I highly recommend this deck to all students of Tarot and use it consistently in all Workshops offered at the Studio.

-- Ann George, Aeclectic Tarot

This is, without question, one of the most beautiful and intricately illustrated decks I've ever encountered. What's more, it is an excellent tool for learning Hermetics and moreover expresses the planetary and zodiacal associations with particular cards and in many cases provides the Hebrew numbers and name translations. The cards reference Kabbalistic elements and in some cases, geomantic patterns. There is a great deal to be gleaned from this deck, as it is not "simplified" and thoroughly challenges the novice to become well versed in Hermetics.

-- "Apocryphal Raven", on Amazon.com

Complex and stark, the black-and-white images are jam-packed with alchemical, astrological and Qabalistic symbols easily recognized by those familiar with those and other esoteric systems. Revealing many of the workings of the Secret Order of the Golden Dawn, this deck draws heavily upon the work of Mathers, Crowley, Case, Levi and others.

The Hermetic Tarot comes with a 70-page LWB, which is thicker than most, which details astrological attributions for the cards and the numerological correlations of the Minor Arcana with the Tree of Life. The LWB also has a handy chart of elemental and astrological glyphs, as well as an illustration of the Tree of Life. However, Hebrew letters rather than actual card names depict the paths on the Tree.

If you're looking to enhance your magical practice or further your knowledge of Golden Dawn esotericism and Qabalistic associations, this would make a fine deck for your studies. The intricacies of the Hermetic Tarot almost serve as a meditative scrying mirror -- and if you enjoy the art of M.C. Escher, you may very well feel an affinity for this deck.

-- Janet Boyer, author of Back in Time Tarot

Though the pictorial symbols on these cards may not be the most colorful, the images hail to ancient Gnosticism and all the mysteries that have tormented the minds of men since the dawn of time. These cards house a myriad of symbolic keys which allows just as many interpretations; lending themselves perfectly to divination, since one truly reads the cards from the soul. These mixed and varied symbols allow the reader to draw inspiration from any number of religious schools of thought, the very fact that attracted me to purchase this deck. I am most highly joyed by the fact that these cards are now in my life.

I Cani Originali (Dogs) Tarot Deck
I Cani Originali (Dogs) Tarot Deck

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT I CANI ORIGINALI (DOGS) TAROT DECK:

The card featured on the cover of this delightful Majors-only set is number 19, "Il Sole," portraying a bright, sunny dog that reminds me of my Sheltie, Suki, who just recently passed away. If I had to choose a card to represent her, it would indeed be The Sun, as she was always smiling, enjoying life with boundless energy.

All of the images on these cards are straightforward in meaning. A puppy in a jester's cap looks excitedly at a blanket decorated with cats in "Il Matto," or The Fool. He is poised in playful readiness, for whatever adventure or encounter might await. "Il Bagatto," The Magician, performs a trick, demonstrating an uncommon mastery of skills. The Empress and Emperor are crowned, regal dogs, The Lovers a close, furry couple sitting upon a be-hearted floor. Long fur shades the eyes of "L'Eremita," The Hermit, giving him a solitary, withdrawn look, and in "La Forza," or Strength, our pooch proves his strength with one paw placed powerfully on a big bone.

I love all of the cards in this limited edition, collector's deck, but of course, I love dogs! One would find readings with this set a little strained, not necessarily by expecting more meaning from the images, but simply because the images are all so sweet! Even 13, "La Morte" - Death, brings a smile with its Doberman wearing a spiked collar. He stands in an intimidating manner and though he doesn't hold a scythe, one does appear against the clouds behind him. Still, although the meaning is rather clear (and ominous), the card portrays a lovely dog, more than anything else.

The cards are of heavy ivory paper, very artfully produced, and packaged in a hardcover case that ties with a ribbon. As a collector's set for lovers of tarot and of dogs, I Cani is wonderful, and would make a terrific little gift. I keep mine on a shelf above my dresser, where Il Sole can remind me of Suki, and the spirit of dogs. Note: the ribbon on my deck is pale pink. The cards are small in size, at 2" x 2 15/16".

Japaridze Tarot
Japaridze Tarot

What customers are saying about Japardize Tarot

From Franco-Georgian surrealist artist Nino Japaridze, art dealer Steve Lucas, and U.S. Games comes what may well be the most interesting and important tarot deck of 2014. The Japaridze Tarot, by Nino Japaridze, joins the Dali Universal as a serious contribution to the tarot world from a popular surrealist artist.

The first thing you will notice about Japaridze Tarot is its exquisite packaging and presentation. This deck and book set come in an artistic keepsake box. The 175-page accompanying book is no simple little white book.  Art dealer Steve Lucas, who collaborated on the tarot project from its beginning, wrote the Japaridze Tarot book.  Color images of each of the seventy-eight cards illustrate the book. The book includes two original tarot spreads by Lynn Araujo and Jody Boginski.

With the holiday season upon us, it is important to note that the Japaridze Tarot is a thoughtful and affordable gift for the art-lovers on your shopping list, even if they are not tarot aficionados. Japaridze Tarot will be great fun on anyone’s coffee table, and would be a great icebreaker at sophisticated cocktail parties.

The card images are beautiful, colorful, deep and evocative. The images span a wide variety of art styles and media. In some ways, this makes the deck feel a bit inconsistent. Some of the images are clearly recognizable as the cards they are, and slightly reminiscent of Waite images. Other cards are re-interpretations of the archetypes. Some of the images are incredibly clever.  The Three of Fire, for instance, is a hot air balloon.

Although neither Lucas nor Japaridze have a background in tarot, the images and text of Japaridze Tarot are deep, thoughtful and evocative. Steve Lucas’ writing style is personal and readable. Japaridze’s cultural experience may be evident in her interpretation of a few cards, but so is her obvious understanding of the tarot archetypes.

The term “art deck” is often used in the tarot community to describe beautiful, artistic decks that aren’t exactly readable. Art decks are more of interest to collectors than to tarot readers. Japaridze is of the rare breed of art deck that is both collectable and supremely readable. The art of Nino Japaridze lends itself beautifully to the soulful and intuitive process of card divination. The lens through which Japaridze and Lucas see tarot brings a new depth to my own understanding of the Fool’s Journey.

Joie de Vivre Tarot
Joie de Vivre Tarot

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT JOIE DE VIVRE TAROT:

I can review this deck with one word -- "whimsical" -- it's like cute Goth. The colors are in the pastel range, in a way that seems to dampen the gloss from the cards. Shady but definitely not dark. The queen of cups is a mermaid with a blue heart on the end of her tail; she is sitting on a rock delighted by a couple of fish jumping out of a large cup. The water is a grayish blue and the sky is kind of yellow, reminds me of hazy morning light.

The creepy does come through. The queen of swords is wearing a worn dress, messy hair, skulls hanging from her waist and a rickety sword in her hands ... she looks annoyed to say the least. But then you see the Devil and he’s not as scary as in other decks. Oh, he looks mischievous, with his wicked grin and cricket style legs/arms. He has shrunken heads hanging from his shirt and has a person on marionette strings. He reminds me more of a street performer.

These cards are full of so many intricate details that you could spend hours just looking through the cards. They could easily serve as your go-to deck for readings.

-- Lilac Wolf, on Pagan Writers Community

Paulina Cassidy has created the charming Joie de Vivre Tarot. Her style of art, her use of color, her images, are so delicate and perfect! I have not set it down since I received it! French for 'the Joy of Living' the name truly captures that child-like joy and essence.

I have searched through the deck to find a favorite card, to display for my review, and cannot find just one! So being the Pisces I am, I chose 'The Moon.' I also love the night, and the music of the night. Paulina has named Phantasm, with an audience of 3 mesmerized white owls, named Haze, Daze and Maze. Owls, the symbol of Wisdom, just look into their little faces, they are lost in the watery world of stars reflected on the peaceful water of the night. And a colorful dragonfly sitting on the end of the violin, cannot get close enough, I think. How creative and lovely, not a style many may copy! We moon people delight in being different, in every way imaginable. The last thing I notice is the golden glow of the stars surrounding her as she lights up the night.

A lovely lady of mystery, and wonderful card to meditate on. What wisdom do the white owls hold for you? Take time to sit with them awhile, and see what your mediation reveals.

A must have deck for any Tarot Reader. Even the Rider-Waite diehards will enjoy this one, as on each card, is a symbol from the most traditional Tarot decks. You just have to look closely, and see what else is hidden within each playful card. Enjoy!

-- Linda, on Maiden of Mystery

The images of Joie de Vivre Tarot are unmistakably the work of Paulina Cassidy. They are fanciful, otherworldly, and, at times, macabre. It seems to me that in her first deck, Cassidy was trying to hold back just a little, maybe trying to be a wee bit tarot-proper. In this deck, she has given us a full view of the landscapes inside her head.

Many of the characters have sweet faces with big eyes and pointed chins. There is a very Victorian feel to the deck. There are clever elements to the images, such as the clock in the hair of Lady Temperance. While the images on the cards are certainly non-traditional, they make sense, and are delightfully imaginative.

I have a theory about this deck. I think it will be very effective for intuitive/psychic tarot reading. The reason is this. Joie de Vivre Tarot is arguably the most imaginative deck ever. It communicates emotion, and sparks imaginative thought. Imagination is seated in the third eye, or brow chakra. This chakra governs the eyesight with which we view the cards, as well as our psychic vision. By stimulating the imagination and the eyesight, these cards will stimulate our psychic ability as well. Joie de Vivre Tarot will be a great deck for anyone who finds it appealing, from beginners to professionals

-- Christiana Gaudet, on Aeclectic Tarot

I found this deck to be highly useable and a delight to read with! In the introduction, the author describes the deck as "designed to access child like energy in each one of us to help stimulate, enhance and inspire joy in our own lives". While that sentence may hold true, don't underestimate this deck as some tarot lightweight. I’ve gotten some deep insights and clear answers from it.

I always appreciate the quality of US Games card stock -- once again, this is a sturdy one that will hold up well to years of tarot readings. This is a really important selling point for me. There is nothing worse than a flimsy deck -- but you never have to worry about that with this publisher.

The images on the cards are whimsical with fantastical creatures that convey the messages in a playful manner. From the Mad Hatter-like Magician to the space mouse on the 8 of Wands, this deck is a quirky and fun tarot adventure that will bring joy to anyone who reads with them.

The artist still favors muted colors but unlike her previous work, this time there is a lightness present that creates a soft and pretty hue. The images are easy on the eyes and I did not have to put on my glasses to read with them. There are fine details that merit a close inspection but again, it was much easier on to see them, which was a happy plus for me.

The deck comes with a little white book that includes meanings for each card as well as for reversals (important for me as I am a fan of reversed cards). What I really found delightful was that the author named every character in the deck! There’s Jaunt the Fool with her bat companion Prudence, Discordia falling from The Tower and Nucleus the space mouse on the 8 of Wands with his alien friends Zoom and Boom – and so many others. Cassidy put full on creativity in this part and I just loved reading these descriptions. Often I will ignore the “little white book” but this one was just plain fun to read!

-- Theresa Reed, on the Tarot Lady Book and Deck Nook

"Joie de Vivre" -- French for "joy of living". And yes, this is a joyful, light-hearted deck that brings out the child in each of us -- something that we don't do often enough! In her introduction Cassidy notes that the living beings that occupy this realm are all sentient souls of love who want the best for those that choose to journey through their world. They will help you lighten up in order to better tap into your intuition and connect with Divine source. The Seeker will find themselves responding through heart, mind, and spirit.

The presentation in the LWB (Little White Book) is what I have come to recognize as the style of U.S. Games Systems, Inc. -- text only, keywords, a short paragraph describing the energy of the card, and the upright and reversed meanings. At the end of the book is a unique six card spread entitled "Spreading the Joy", as well as blank pages for note taking. The author bio is something that you will want to read also -- because it is here that you will find that Cassidy has been a student of energy healing for over ten years, and applies her studies in Reiki and pranic healing to her visual art, and that she also composes and records songs. Certainly the energy of the healer comes through in this deck!

The art is very gently done fantasy, in pastel colors. The Fool seems to be floating through the air, and there is a bit of the Mad Hatter in the Magician's top hat. The Hanged Man hangs from a vine in mid air, while the Two of Wands is a lovely muse standing with a globe in one hand, and her owl companion appearing to be sitting on her head.

This is an excellent deck to use with clients that are a little nervous about the Tarot, or to take yourself, or a client, "out of the box" in your reading. It would also be a wonderful deck to use in a comparative reading. The artwork alone is worth the price of the deck!

-- Bonnie Cehovet, on Aeclectic Tarot

This deck is so well conceived that each card could stand as its own little universe. In readings it communicates in a clear, rich and friendly way thanks to the lovely card images and characters that inhabit them.

-- John Alan, The Tarot Guild

Cassidy adds a new cast of characters to her lively world of inner adventure. These magical illustrations lead us through the traditional 78-card tarot format with whimsy and wisdom. Beautiful to look at, and insightful in its imagery, this will make a good starter deck for those new to tarot, as well as a joyful addition for serious students of the tarot.

What customers are saying about Journey to the Goddess Realm

I love the fresh images of this deck and they “feel” good to me. This deck will appeal to anyone wishing to increase intuition and to get in touch with goddess energies. I love it! It’s bright, cheerful and has a happy feeling when I hold it. The deck goes beyond a simple oracle deck and can be a great tool for your spiritual journey.

The Journey to the Goddess Realm Oracle Deck by Lisa Porte offers the seeker a way to reconnect with the archetypes of feminine wisdom. The cards are an invitation to develop intuition, to re-member the body as a sacred temple, and to create balance between using our minds as a sacred tool for liberation and to heed our soul's calling to create peace, empathy and understanding with all of humankind.

—Kayla Garnet Rose, Ph.D.    Certified Hypnotherapist, Reiki Master

With its skillful blend of whimsy, substance, and charm, the Goddess Realm Oracle Deck is a feast for the eyes and the spirit. I found myself being drawn into individual images, feeling a connection with many of the goddesses, and thoroughly enjoying my interaction with them.  Lisa Porter has brought us high-powered feminine energy from pantheons in all parts of the globe  I think this could be a great deck to use in conjunction with The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr (U.S. Games Systems, Inc.) and I intend to give that a try. Images are alive with vibrant color and symbolic details, many of which are explained in the guidebook. Many of the goddesses are depicted as tall and slim, with long, slender legs. Exceptions include my personal favorite, the Slavic grandmother Baba Yaga, who is drawn as a generously proportioned older woman flying through the air in a cauldron while smoking a pipe, and the bawdy Greek goddess Baubo, who raises her dress to reveal plump legs clad in striped stockings. All of these ladies have plenty of personality, poise, and power – just what we expect from goddesses.

King Solomon Oracle Cards
King Solomon Oracle Cards

What customers are saying about King Solomon Oracle Cards

The King Solomon Oracle Cards is an entirely new species of oracle deck. They were created with thought, care and fine artistry, and offer a vastly different and tantalizing trajectory on a number of levels....

Ms. Ben-Shoshan’s art expresses the card’s themes in a highly surrealistic manner.... Gazing at these cards is like getting a revitalizing brain massage – you can sense your synapses making happy “pling!” sounds as new connections and ideas emerge... The King Solomon Oracle Deck is recommended for readers who enjoy working with surreal artwork, who are fascinated by talismanic symbols, and who want to get out of card-reading ruts.

—Elizabeth Hazel, ATA Quarterly Journal

Orna's fantastic artistry never fails to delight and inspire intuition. The imagery she provides is fantastic fodder for intuitive reading. I'm always able to receive clear readings with her decks, as bizarre and fantastical as the scenes are. There's just something magical that happens when reading with one of Orna's decks. You see things in them that make perfect sense, and they have an uncanny ability to mirror what's going on in your life so miraculously. It's really quite something to experience! I definitely recommend this little gem of a deck for anyone interested in an oracle deck that will fuel your intuition and bring a bit of magical synchronicity into your readings.

—Tarot Dame Blogspot

Although I usually do not play around with Oracle cards, I was pleasantly surprised by the profoundness and beauty of this deck. The artwork is simply gorgeous. Vibrant colors, whimsical yet magickal images and clear images of the Seals make this deck a wonder to behold. Some of the cards have a Goatic symbol while others have the "72 Names of God", the Kabbalistic names. (These are not written in Hebrew letters but in angel writing.) The backs of the cards are a pale greyish blue with a Seal in the middle. The authors state that the King Solomon Oracle Cards "were created as a personal deck for your daily use." While that may be the intention, I find them to be uncanny when I need simple advice. They have been accurate and wise in that use.

I would highly recommend this deck to anyone who is looking for a simple oracle deck or who is drawn to the Seals. This deck is great for beginners and would be a lovely addition to any deck collection.

—Theresa Reed, The Tarot Lady

The “King Solomon Oracle Cards” is a thirty-six card oracle deck, with four extra cards, entitled amulet cards, that are not intended to be used in readings. The four amulet cards are meant to be used as such – as personal, sacred amulets. They may be kept at home, or carried with the Seeker. They are written in Angel’s Writing and ancient Goatic symbols by the author, kabbalist Itzhak Mizrahi. They influence every aspect of the bearers life, as long as they are kept in their possession. According to Mizrahi, their effect will be felt after about 21 days. After 40 days, their sacred power will be quite noticeable. The instructions are to write your name, and your mother’s name, in the white space on the back of the card. The four life areas that the cards cover are Livelihood, Relationships, Health, and Security and Protection.

The cards themselves are meant to help the reader the significant situations and profound questions that life places in our path. They provide powerful insight into current situations and future outlooks. The lens of perception, or the focus of this deck is the wisdom of King Solomon. The magical signet ring that he received from the heavens inspired the seals that have become powerful symbols in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and are widely used in charms and talismans. The seals carry different frequencies that relate to different life situations and physical characteristics.

The mystical symbols are meant to connect the Seeker spiritually to the essence of their inquiry. In other words – to the spiritual response to their inquiry. The deck was created to be used as a personal deck for daily use. Morning reading help prepare the Seeker for the day ahead. I found the artwork and imagery to be very magickal, drawing the Seeker into the picture. The readings that I have done for myself have been very appropriate and enlightening. The deck works for me in a very deep way. Seekers from all backgrounds would have no problem working with this deck.

—Bonnie Cehovet, Aeclectic Tarot

How does one describe this totally unique deck of cards? Well let’s start with a few words my students, a group that included people who have never done readings before. I asked the group to each choose a card for their partner and then interpret the card for their partner, based on the pictures and symbols.

Without words on the cards, the students were forced to trust their intuition. They felt the cards were: expressive / open / honest / non-restrictive / inspiring and informative.

I also asked a number of experienced readers to share their thoughts and their words for the most part mirrored the students, although they found themselves looking for more information by connecting with their guides. The lack of words is one of the reasons I like the cards so much. Since I don’t generally use the books that come with cards, the pictures are full of inspiration.

This is a terrific deck for self-reading, pulling one card and asking myself "what insight do I need for myself today?" Many of the people who had the opportunity to look at these cards with me, are already asking where they can buy them. So does this make them a deck everyone should use, I can’t say, I know I am having fun using and learning more about them every day.

Kuan Yin Oracle
Kuan Yin Oracle

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT KUAN YIN ORACLE

The Kuan Yn is a gorgeous new deck illustrated by Zeng Hao, with the accompanying book written by Alana Fairchild. This beautiful collaboration resulted in a deck and book set that is as lovely a treat on the eyes as it is for the spirit.

The cards are all so beautiful, elegant, graceful, peaceful and feminine.  My favorite card is the Lotus Throne (above). When I saw the image of this card online, I had to have this deck. It is beyond gorgeous. I want to be her.

I was blown away with how accurately this deck matched my daily life experiences. For a couple weeks, I pulled a single daily card, and it never failed to align, with minute detail, with what was going on for me that day. The deck reads very gracefully, and the spiritual messages are gentle and empowering. The cards, gorgeous as they are, don't lend themselves to intuitive readings on their own, as they are all very alike. So the book is invaluable for this deck to work its magic. You really do need to learn the meaning behind each card.

This deck has not failed to give me the exact message I need to hear on any given day. Every time I draw a card, I am amazed at how it seems to be written just for me. It has been like having a divine friend with me, knowing exactly where I am and where I want to go and what I need to do, guiding and encouraging me along the way.

The 144-page book that accompanies this deck is wonderful. Alana Fairchild has a lovely voice, and was the perfect author for this set. The author's voice is so comforting, it's as though she channeled Kuan Yin's compassionate and loving spirit while writing the book. The passages guide you lovingly through the difficult times as well as the blessed. You can really feel the divine energy coming through her words. When you read the message, you feel loved, which is an amazing testimony to the power of the author's voice.

I love this deck! Both the cards and the book simply exude positive feminine energy. The images are exquisite, and the book is marvelous. If you are looking for a deck that will channel the Divine Feminine, look no further.  It's been a really beautiful experience working with these cards and book... it's a set I will cherish.

—Kiki, Tarot Dame Blogspot

Back around July of 2010, I had won an oracle reading at a local health and wellness open house, which I went to and was quite impressed by what I learned about myself and my life's journey. Ironically, at that same reading is when I fell head-over-heels with the specific oracle deck the woman used to read me. I had been following this particular oracle and its author since it was published and to say smitten would be a gross understatement!

The oracle deck boasts 44 incredibly beautiful, intricately detailed and soul capturing cards and comes with a 144-page guide book that explains a little about each card in the deck. Each page also provides meditations, prayers and exercises you can do to help connect with your inner peace, beauty, and awareness.

Kuan Yin IS after all, the goddess of compassion guiding us to love ourselves and reach the Divine Feminine.

Aside from the breathtaking artwork, the thing I really liked about this deck is its size; the cards are larger, which is what I prefer when reading myself or others.  I'm so excited to break this deck in and see what advice and insight Kuan Yin and the Divine Feminine have for me :)

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT LEGRANDE CIRCUS & SIDESHOW TAROT

I love the nostalgic feeling that these cards bring with them and the adaptation to the way of Circus life is brilliant.

The major arcana cards, court cards and aces are labeled on the front.  The pips are not labeled but are easy to identify so there’s no confusion about what card you’re looking at in a spread.

The downloadable tarot spread is a wonderful touch.  I’ve printed this out on plain white paper and tucked it right into the box of cards.

If you love themed decks and have an interest in the circus this deck will be a great addition to your collection.  If you’re looking for a working deck that you can use with any client of any age the LeGrande Circus & Sideshow Tarot will work well for you.

“Come one, come all… Step right up…Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages! You are about to witness a daring Tarot deck of adventure and wonder…of excitement, guaranteed to delight! A deck that you will remember throughout your lifetime! Never before has anything so dashing been seen! I am privileged to introduce to you the star of the show…(drum roll please)…The LeGrande Circus & Sideshow Tarot!”

Created and illustrated by Joe Lee, a former professional clown with Ringling Brothers & Barnum and Bailey Circus, this gorgeous 78 card Tarot deck with its bright colors and vintage circus styled posters is guaranteed to please almost every circus aficionado and tarot reader alike.

The cards measure nearly 3 1/2 x 4 1/2 and are accentuated by a red line frame, with a colorful mirror image clown on the back that allows the reader to use reversals if so chosen. I had no problems shuffling and I have always loved U.S. Games Systems card stock because I am always able to mix the cards well without damage to edges or card stock itself.

Following the familiar Tarot Archetypes found in most traditional style decks, Joe Lee has quite successfully captured the unique flavor of circus sights and sounds without sacrificing the essence of conventional interpretations. The Major Arcana reflect the popular parade of archetypal characters with the exception of The Popess, replacing the accustomed High Priestess and the Pope filling in for the more commonly named Heirophant. Strength is enumerated 8 and Justice sports the familiar numeral 11.

The Minor Arcana, a depiction of day to day life, reflects the quirky and unparalleled circus lifestyle with its high wire performers, juggling acts and cast of characters unique to this big top venue.

This is an absolutely delightful Tarot deck, one that even the newest readers can pick up and read straight away. I just can’t express how impressed I was as soon as I opened the box and began working with such a colorful cast of characters! I would urge readers both young and old, experienced or not, to add this to their collections!

LES VAMPIRES

This intriguing oracle features lady vampires as guides to both the light and dark places we encounter in our life. The wide-eyed femmes appear young, and throughout the varying images of the 44 cards, also wistful, plaintive, rebellious, saintly, angry, innocent, alluring, erudite, seductive…and more! The vampire element is not overplayed, as only a small portion of the young females display two biting incisors. Other pictorial images that repeat in the background include: nighttime ambiance, skulls, wolves, cats, indoor gothic architecture, sumptuous attire and gilded card borders and furniture.

In the companion Guidebook, the handy Contents in the beginning of the book conveniently list each card, with card number and page. In addition, helpful basics are addressed, such as blessing the deck, how to shuffle the cards, and reading for others. The 17 page introduction is comprehensive, including the discussion as to why vampires can function as effective guides, and three sample layouts are delineated: The Trinity, The Path Through the Night, and The Byzantine Cross. I will need to practice the 13 card Path Through the Night, but the Trinity with three cards and the Byzantine Cross, with six cards, were simpler for me to immediately grasp. The book is very well organized and offers much wisdom gleaned from the author’s metaphysical life experience and practice in presenting workshops. The book is 135 pages and each page of interpretation includes a small black and white image of the card, key words, card meaning (Les Vampires Speak), and further brief notes titled, “Blessing”, “Curse” and “Working with This Card”. The author notes that the short mentioning for each card under the “Curse” can refer to the reverse card position as well as pointing to remedial areas for right action, to rebalance that area of one’s life.

Jasmine Becket-Griffith’s artwork is evocative of a host of artists from the 1960s and 1970s, (one artist in particular that I recall, having traveled to the American Southwest is Ted de Grazia), who painted wide-eyed young ones—this Oracle goes beyond innocents gazing at us and becomes a compelling journey into the layered world of fantasy, attraction, and the fated journey that we walk in responding to our own impulses and the world around us.

In other words, I found an increasing notion that the Les Vampires Oracle carries a well-constructed and carefully considered set of layered archetypes and metaphors; surely there is sufficient mystery and wisdom here to both study and to play with for some time.

What people are saying about Magical Times Empowerment Cards

I’ve been waiting eagerly for this amazing deck to come out since I heard that U.S. Games was going to publish it! I followed Jody’s artwork of the Magical Times that started trickling down on Facebook, one card at a time…but Oh, what a gorgeous set of cards!

It seemed to take FOREVER before I got the word that I was going to be able to review it and wow…As I sat opening this deck, my eyeballs just about popped out of my head…this deck was beyond what I had hoped for!  Magical Times Empowerment will absolutely knock your socks off with Jody Bergsma’s exquisite imagery, powerful positive affirmations and a sturdy yet stunning hard flip top box.

Some of you may recognize Jody’s other deck, The Spirit of the Wheel Meditation deck, which in itself is a fantastic set of cards.  Jody began her journey with art at an early age and with her mother’s encouragement. She was invited to her first art show at fifteen and has dozens of awards which incorporate her unique style of imagery containing fantasy, wildlife, and geometric designs that can be seen in several of the Magical Times cards.

Jody’s use of affirmations…  affirmations are sayings that can be used to manifest your needs and bring positive and permanent change to your life…in each card gently allow the reader to align their energy and can be read in two ways…1.) Direct cards, straightforward meanings that provide an insight or call to action and 2.) Reversed cards, which can indicate a potential blockage or imbalance in your energy that needs some attention.

This card deck contains 44 graceful, and interactive portraits, that cause the reader to pause and reflect on their journey by asking “What does this mean…?”  ”What information is this particular card trying to impart to me…?” Both wonderful questions that once asked and reflected upon, can be written down in a journal to keep observations and insights in. The affirmations are written in a flowing script style, giving it a unique feel, with some words highlighted in bold.

There is a awesome LWB (Little White Book) that is not really little but contains affirmations a bit more in length than what is simply written on each card so the reader can fully grasp it’s meaning and possible message.

This has got to be the most awesome deck this year, I love the muted shades of soft summer colors, hints of green, lavender and earthy gold hues. It all adds up to make this an amazing, most definitely a must have deck, as with all US Games decks! The cardstock is perfection and I love the larger than average size along with the reversible backs with their bright and cheery circles.

All in all, this is an absolutely wonderful deck that I heartily encourage everyone to go look at! It’s a “Must Have” for any person, go look, you’ll see!

There is a lot to love about this deck, with its pleasing colors, evocative art, and empowering messages. I like the way certain words in each inspirational message are emphasized by printing them in the calligraphy-style font used for the card's title/keyword. The keywords chosen by Jody Bergsma appear to cover every possible aspect of life, tuning in to common human emotions, perceptions, desires, and needs.

I'm looking forward to trying the spreads from the Little White Book, especially the Five-Card Elemental Influences Spread, which is designed to answer the questions "Who are my allies?" and "Who walks beside and within me?"

The watercolor paintings are truly lovely and inspirational. The animals and people are realistic yet have a fantasy feel. On one of my favorite cards, Pilgrimage, a white-haired, bearded man (who reminds me of "Father Christmas" or perhaps Merlin) appears to be moving forward, accompanied by several white animals including a wolf, bear, fox, deer, owl, and hawk. Another favorite of mine is Humor, which depicts a young fairy girl in a rainbow-striped dress dancing with a winged cat. A white dove flies overhead, spreading rainbow colors across the sky.

I just received a copy of the “Magical Times” empowerment cards, by Jody Bergsma, and I am blown away! I loved t his deck from the moment that I opened the b ox and took the cards out.  There was an instant connection. Upon reading her bio, I understand why. Bergsma lives in Bellingham, WA – the same state that I live in!

“Magical Times” is a 44 card set of cards combining inspirational images (based on Bergsma’s love of native wildlife, fantasy creatures, and geometric design) and affirmations. The 28 page companion book is presented largely in text, with five black and white images. The intent of the companion book … and the deck … comes out in the first sentence under “To Begin Your Readings” : “Like all things, Magical Times Empowerment Cards” are a living energy, and it is good to align with their life force.” We are immediately transported into a magical world that offers us hope and caring. Each card is presented with an affirmation. We are advised that the more times we read our affirmation, the deeper it will go into our mind and the more influence it will have.

I find this deck to be very easy to connect with, and to use. I did a trial run with the cards in my May Full Moon ritual … they worked very well! The word empowerment is not used loosely – this IS an empowering deck!

Magical Times Empowerment Cards by Jody Bergsma is a deck of forty-four cards, each with a pretty image and short affirmation. An enclosed twenty-eight page book includes a further message for each card as well as three spreads for use with the deck.

I am enough of a hard-core tarotist to not be a huge fan of oracle decks in general, but I recognize their purpose. An oracle deck requires no study, and no prior knowledge of the cards. You can purchase the deck and be doing readings the same day. Oracle decks such as Magical Times Empowerment Cards require only the desire to receive inspiration and perspective.

One of my favorite things about Magical Times is its lovely box. There will be no need to find another box or pouch for these cards. The cards themselves are a bit larger and squarer than most tarot decks. The cards are colorful without being garish. Each card has a simply title, such as Confidence, Creation, Nature, Prosperity and Quest. I really like the forty-four words that were chosen to be cards in this oracle. Right away I can see how these words could be helpful in healing, inspiring and directing those who seek wisdom from the cards.

Each card is illustrated with a lovely picture. The images feature faeries, angels, animals—both real and mythical, flowers, butterflies and Celtic symbols. The Dignity card, for example, features a dragon. Destiny features dolphins. The Dance card shows a faerie dancing with a winged frog. I love that there is a Dance card, as well as a card of Mercy, and one of Manifestation. In many ways this is obviously a high-quality oracle. The art is appealing, and the cardstock is sturdy.

I appreciate how much information is in the booklet. The cards are listed alphabetically. Each card has a statement that begins with “Today I will.”  This is in contrast to the affirmations that are printed on the cards, which are directives rather than first-person affirmations.

I really like the spreads in the booklet. There is a simple one-card spread, a three-card spread and a five-card spread complete with an elemental ritual. All three spreads seem effective and helpful. The variety of the spreads could easily inspire a diviner to create their own spreads for use with the Magical Times Empowerment Cards.

I recommend the Magical Times Empowerment Cards to anyone who enjoys pretty oracle decks, mystical images and simple, spiritual messages.

Welcome to the Magical Times Empowerment  a magical deck of  affirmations and dream-like fantasy images in rainbows of color. It becomes an instant friend.

This deck is truly inspired. Some images have a playful energy and others are truly sacred in nature. The deck resonated with me immediately, in much the same way as a much-needed affirmation sets a situation straight with positive clarity. I was surprised by the ability of this deck to hone in gently on a situation while offering guidance (sample reading is at the end of this review). I found myself very excited and in wonder as I walked through this beautiful deck, discovering the gentle images of fantasy.

Magical Times Empowerment  are quality cards that sweep us into a wonderful journey that bridges our outside world experience with our inner emotional self. It is a gentle deck, easy to read, rich in color and imagery, and requires no reading experience in order to jump in and begin the intuitive experience. Angels, birds, faeries, unicorns and dragons are just some of the spirits that flow through the deck images. This elegantly boxed deck would make a beautiful gift to a dear friend, including a gift to yourself. I found myself immersed in its flowing energy right away and found it connected with my life situations immediately. I highly recommend this deck.
