Spiritsong Tarot won second place for ATA Reader’s Choice Award for Best Tarot Deck of 2017

This Spiritsong deck is a melding of two traditions of divination: one in which animals are seen as guides between our world and the spirit world, and one that uses 78 cards as a tool to connect with our highest self. Each animal was specifically selected based upon Shamanic and Native American symbolism, merging each animal’s unique power with classic tarot practices. For example, the Spiritsong animal, Raven, has attributes such as ‘creation’ that parallels some of the same symbolic tarot attributes of the traditional Magician card, which is why the Raven is the animal representing that card.

The Spiritsong Tarot structure is based on the traditional tarot, containing the 22 Majors, the 56 Minors, and four suits: Acorns for Wands/Fire; Feathers for Swords/Air; Shells for Cups/Water; and Crystals for Pentacles/Earth.

Connected to the portals of higher worlds, the 78 Spiritsong animals are mentors of divine guidance. Bearing their own Shamanic powers, they’re forever open to providing their energy when called upon. They’re always available to help you attain your greatest spiritual potential. If you ask, they will provide guidance needed to assist you in finding the best remedy for any situation. Set includes 78 cards and 108-page guidebook.

  • The Spiritsong Tarot is the deck I have been waiting for this year and Paulina Cassidy and U.S. Games, Inc. definitely knocked it out of the park with this one. The Spiritsong Tarot is a 78-card tarot deck with a 105-page guidebook. This wonderfully ties together the Tarot, Animal Guides, Native American Symbolism, and Shamanism.

The artwork is stunning. I love the use of soft pastel colors that we have grown used to seeing from Ms. Cassidy. The card backs feature two water lilies. The deck is reversible friendly. The companion guidebook gets right to business. It opens with a brief introduction and jumps right into the cards. The book is not fully illustrated but filled packed with information. For each card, you will find a message, keywords, a reversed message, and reversed keywords. At the end of the book, you will find a handful of spreads, 3 of which are original, which I find refreshing. The Spiritsong Tarot is a fantastic deck for those who are fans of Paulina Cassidy's other decks. For those unfamiliar with Animal Guides and Shaman or Native American Symbolism, this deck might take a little studying. That being said, I think this deck can be used by beginners through the professional as long as you are willing to spend some time with it.

The “Spiritsong Tarot”, by Paulina Cassidy, is a 78 card deck, accompanied by a 105-page guidebook, that follows the traditional framework of 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana cards. Cassidy, whose work includes the Joie de Vivre Tarot, the Paulina Tarot, the Witchlings oracle, and the Faerie Guidance oracle, has added yet another level to the Tarot by placing animal guides in each card to act as gateways between the physical world and the spiritual world. Her selection was based on both Shamanic and Native American symbolism, matching the animal to the traditional attributes of the card., Queen, Knight, and Page.

In the introduction to the guidebook, Cassidy talks about bringing together the world of Tarot, and the world of animal guides. She also talks about the elemental signs and the four suits and their attributes. Each card is presented with the card title, the animal guide associated with it, the cards message, keywords, reversed message, and reversed keywords. At the end of the guidebook is a section on connecting with the cards, as well as templates for the following spreads: The Spiritsong Star Spread, the Spiritsong Healing Spread, the Spiritsong Tree of Life Spread, a One Card Oracle Reading and a Three Card Oracle Reading.

I love the gentle nature of the pastel coloring and the fantasy artwork, and the wonderful manner in which animal guides are introduced. This deck can be used for such diverse purposes as divination, meditation, card a day guidance, and personal growth (to name a few). It would also work well in a comparative reading, where the same cards are pulled from two or more decks, placed in the same template, and read together.

I have to admit, this deck EXCEEDED my expectations. I expected soft and beautiful watercolor/ink images of animals, but the deck is so beautifully executed, printed (the colors are soft, but still very vibrant), and clever that I am just blown away.

It's based on RW, but reimagined with the characteristics (both physical and symbolically, drawn from many traditions) of animals. It's definitely a positive and gentle deck- there are definitions for card reversals, but the way the deck is designed is that an animal appears in a reading to guide you through whatever you are facing, good or bad.

The cards are on lovely sturdy cardstock, mostly matte, and are a little hard to shuffle at first but break in pretty quickly. The printing is beautiful- I especially love that the background and border for each image is slightly different- some cards are ecru, some a pale blue, some a very pale green. I love the look it gives the cards. The cards also feature two keywords on the bottom- normally I'm not a fan of that because I read intuitively, but since this deck is a slightly different take on traditional tarot and tarot imagery, I find the keywords useful.

As a longtime admirer of Paulina’s art I was curious to see her new creation. I enjoy fantasy fairy art and this deck with pretty realistic animal pictures didn’t seem super exciting to me...Until I saw it! It’s absolutely gorgeous!! I am once again in awe of Paulina’s talent and an incredible work put into this deck! Each card is a window into it’s own magical world! A beautifully written explanation booklet too, with clear and inspiring messages. The cards are sturdy and smooth, a pleasure to work with! I am definitely buying this deck for my friends for the holidays!

This charming deck has soft and sweet energy, sure to become a collectors deck as well as a serene meditation tool and a source of real healing inspiration. I received it and had to buy two more immediately to share with animal and art lovers! It doesn't get any better!

If you love Paulina Cassidy’s previous decks you will have no problem falling for this one too.  Paulina’s style is so delicate and at the same time very powerful; I find it mesmerizing.  The pastel colors are soothing and the deck has a very calm, serene and healing energy to it.  There are 78 cards as in all traditional tarot decks but this deck is a bit different.  Some of the names have been changed to suit the energy of the deck.
